Inn of the Sixth Happiness

Ingrid Bergman stars in this film based on the life story of Gladys Aylward, who opens an inn in China for tired, hungry mule drivers crossing mountain trails. She wins the heart of a Eurasian colonel and converts a powerful Mandarin to Christianity. Her greatest feat is during the Japanese invasion of China when she leads a multitude of homeless children to safety across enemy lines.
